Description

The Sharps BBC is precisely machined from S7 steel which then undergoes our proprietary heat treatment process. Finally the BBC is finished inside and out with NP3®/NP3® PLUS to minimize the need for lubricants, to aid in smooth operation and to make clean up a breeze. The BBC has the SRC logo machine cut on the side of the carrier which is visible when the ejection port door is open. It fits standard AR-15/M16/M4 rifles chambered in .223/5.56mm, 25-45 Sharps and 300 Blackout calibers.

30-Day Money Back Guarantee
Interested in our products, but hesitant on the design? We offer a 30-Day Money Back Guarantee for certain SRC products including, the Relia-Bolt, Bolt Carrier, and Bolt Carrier Group.

Superior Corrosion Resistance
Every Balanced Bolt Carrier Group is coated with NP3®/NP3® PLUS, an electroless nickel-based finish. This process co-deposits sub-micron particles of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), commonly known as Teflon™, for self-lubricating corrosion resistance. NP3® PLUS offers far more corrosion resistance for marine and other hostile environments. NP3® PLUS gain up to five times as much corrosion resistance over standard NP3® and up to 10X more than regular electroless nickel!

With a long history of innovation Sharps Rifle Company (SRC) has done it again! After developing the most technologically advanced AR-15/M16/M4 bolt in the world Sharps felt compelled to develop a bolt carrier unit to complement it.

We began by identifying what the shortcomings were with the traditional AR-15/M16/M4 bolt carrier. We identified two primary issues. The first being the rotational camming of the carrier during the unlocking portion of the operational cycle. The second being the canting of the bolt carrier group upon firing due to the gas pressure exerted to the gas key which naturally causes the front of the bolt carrier group to rise and the rear of the bolt carrier group to be pressed downward during its rearward travel.

Armed with this knowledge our team of innovative engineers set about to correct those shortcomings. We used computer design technology coupled with real world testing to address both of these issues. When the process was completed we sent the resulting prototypes to a broad spectrum of professionals who use their rifles hard for their personal evaluation and feedback. Their observations were then incorporated into the final design resulting in the new SRC Balanced Bolt Carrier (BBC).

Question: When developing the BBC why didn’t you address the designs of the gas key and the firing pin retaining pin?

Answer: We experimented with attaching a new gas key in a unique way as well as a radically different firing pin retention system but at the urging of our Professional users we chose to stay with standard Mil Spec components to simplify battlefield repairs and to simplify maintenance by the civilian MSR enthusiast.

Question: Does the Sharps BBC weigh less or more than a standard Mil Spec bolt carrier?

Answer: It weighs the same as a standard Mil Spec bolt carrier.

Question: Why didn’t you lighten it and make a low mass bolt carrier?

Answer: Maintaining the weight is necessary to achieving the balancing effect and because the BBC runs within the upper receiver and receiver extension in a straighter line it runs more smoothly resulting in faster sight recovery times while at the same time ensuring the inertia required to seat a dented or dirty round in the chamber.

Question: Does the BBC work in the M16?

Answer: Yes, the BBC has the full-length shroud for tripping auto and burst-fire sears, so the BBC may be installed in full-auto law enforcement, military and NFA approved rifles.

Just bought my second one December 14, 2017

I am three-gun competitor, so I fire my AR a good bit every month.  I probably have 1,000 rounds fired with an uncoated Relia-bolt so far and always it just works.

I keep my guns well oiled but not always very clean: it does not seem to matter, where other competitors not using SRC products have problems.

I am back today to buy the complete coated BCG, which I expect will be even better--if that is possible--than the Relia-bolt I already own.

Oh, and on customer service, a friend who is also a competitor broke a Relia-bolt and SRC sent him one straight away with no hassles.  Two thumbs up for great customer service.

The best bolt carrier group there is. February 15, 2017
Reviewer: Weenie Weinerson from FL United States
My wife, Mrs. Weinerson, also loves this amazing BCG and also loves how easy it cleans up because of the super slick NP3+ coating. This is definitely worth the money. This is a BCG that will last forever. If your on the fence don't hesitate, get it - you'll be glad you did! Life saving equipment is something you can't skimp on!
